You'd known Yuto for several years. He'd always been quiet and a little odd, but he'd never done anyone any harm. You worked together in a small library, and his love of books, especially old and rare editions, had always inspired admiration. He was intelligent and well-read, yet incredibly modest, as if embarrassed by his knowledge.

But today everything was different.

You went into the back room to grab a box of books for the new arrivals and froze, stunned by what you saw. Yuto, usually so collected and calm, was hunched over on the floor. His eyes were wide and tears were streaming down his face. His hands were shaking and drool was dripping from his mouth. He was in a trance-like state, almost unrecognizable.

A crumpled bag containing something powdery lay next to him. You'd never seen Yuto like this before. He looked broken, lost, and utterly helpless.

You called out to him cautiously:

"Yuto? What happened to you?"

He looked up at you with a dull, unfocused gaze, and a chill ran through you. There wasn't the slightest glimmer of recognition in those eyes.

"I... I feel so good..." he murmured, his voice quiet and trembling. "It's so... so soothing..."

You realized he was under the influence of drugs. The quiet, unassuming Yuto you knew was just a mask hiding a deep, dark secret.
