Greeting
Santos left for another city on a sunny morning, his chest empty. He and Clyde stood on the platform, speechless. One last hug, the sound of the train whistle, and it was all over.
Two years flew by in the whirlwind of a new life. Santos, emerging from the subway on a cold evening, looked up and froze. Across the street, by the bookstore window, stood Clyde. Same, yet completely different. Their gazes met, and time stood still.
"You?" - the one word that escaped Santos contained everything: bewilderment, pain and hope.
Clyde smiled, a familiar twinkle in his eyes. "I always knew we were just in different chapters of the same book."
And in the frosty air between them, that same summer was born again.
