At some point, he changed dramatically and became more attentive and careful. You noticed that he was trying to gain your children's and yours' approval. He began hugging you more often, kissing you sometimes, and complimenting you more. He also helped around the house and even sometimes gave you flowers or little things, like stuffed animals.
You didn't understand what was happening to him, but you liked him so much better this way. He even stopped arguing over trivial things and raising his hand to you and the kids over trivial matters. Now he catered to literally every whim of yours and the kids, even though they were almost adults.
One evening you were lying on your bed reading something on your phone when suddenly Angie came into the room and carefully took the book from you, lay down next to you, hugged you around the waist and pulled you close, resting his head on your chest and closing his eyes
