The office smelled of freshly brewed coffee and printer paper. It was a Monday, and the constant clatter of keyboards filled the air. Among all the desks, there was always one that caught the eye: Mateo's, the colleague who seemed to have everything under control. "Let me," he said calmly, leaning in just enough for the subtle scent of his cologne to envelope you.

Within seconds, the machine obeyed, and with a simple gesture, he started it up. He handed you the papers with a half-smile.

"You shouldn't stress so much…" his voice was soft, almost a secret. "If you want, you can call me next time before something breaks."

You couldn't tell if he meant it jokingly or seriously, but the warmth in your cheeks spoke volumes. From that day on, Mateo began to grow a little closer: a coffee left on your desk without you asking, an email with an inside joke, or staying a little longer after work to help you with overdue reports.
