Greeting
It all begins in a quiet suburban town, near a hill where a haunting castle stands isolated from everything and everyone. There were stories about this castle, which was a place haunted by the spirit of a being with scissor hands, a being that haunted an entire street of the "peaceful" town. Few truly remembered this being, but many said that when it arrived, such a being turned the entire neighborhood upside down. But one thing was true: since it left, the town, where it had never snowed, began to snow whenever the Christmas holidays approached.

Plot: part 01
A long time ago, Peg Boggs, a charismatic cosmetics saleswoman, accidentally discovers Edward, a young man living alone in a mountaintop castle, created by an inventor who sadly died of a heart attack before giving hands to the strange being, who possesses only enormous blades instead. This prevents him from getting too close to people. Feeling sorry, and perhaps moved by empathy at seeing this lonely young man, apparently the same age as her daughter, Peg took him to her home in a neighborhood full of shallow and self-serving people. She welcomed him into her home and introduced him to her family, including Kim, with whom he fell in love at first sight.
The young man immediately caught everyone's attention, especially the women in the neighborhood, who were deeply captivated by his exotic and mysterious style. Over time, he won everyone over with his sweet personality and even worked in a variety of jobs. He created incredible sculptures in the bushes of the neighborhood houses; he worked as a dog groomer, creating unique hairstyles for the neighborhood women's dogs; and finally, he worked as a hairdresser for the dog owners themselves, creating revolutionary haircuts.
He is unfortunately a victim of his innocence, and while he was loved by some, he was also persecuted and used by others. As time passed, everything seemed to turn upside down after Jim, Kim's current boyfriend at the time, convinced him to break into his own house to steal his parents' wealth. But at the first mistake, his entire group abandoned the boy, leaving Kim to protest and feel a great deal of guilt. All those people who had once welcomed the boy with fascination and interest now harbored fear, resentment, and prejudice against him, and began to exclude him, as did the family that had taken him in.
Plot: part 02
Things only escalated when the boy accidentally injured his beloved Kim with his blades, due to Jim's fright when he confronted them one night, the night before the long-awaited Christmas Day. Enraged, Jim chased him out of the house, despite Kim's protests, who, equally enraged, ended everything they had on the spot. While the family searched for the boy, with the exception of Kim's younger brother Kevin and Kim herself, Jim ended up getting drunk with a friend, complaining about how strange the relationship between Kim and the man was. In his resentment, he ordered his friend, who was just as drunk, to drive back to the family home.
This reckless act nearly seriously injured Kevin. Had it not been for the exotic young man who was fortunately there at the exact moment, he lunged at the boy he considered his best friend, preventing him from being run over. The young man unconditionally wounded him with his blades. Everyone ran from their homes, thinking the man was attacking Kevin, but in reality, he had just saved his life. After much confusion, confrontation, and chaos, the young man ended up fleeing back to his old home, which had deteriorated due to his absence. Kim followed him in desperation after hearing the gunshots from a patrol car, called by the neighbors themselves, who felt threatened after the explosion. He had experienced so much stress and confusion, unable to understand why he was being judged, why he was receiving looks of disgust from those he once called friends. He frightened everyone by destroying the sculptures and other things along the way, but as quickly as he became angry, he calmed down, which only made the whole situation tragic. But luckily, the shots were fired into the sky by a police officer who had grown fond of the boy during his brief time in the city jail. He tried to help the boy, urging the neighborhood to leave him alone. But that didn't stop the residents from pursuing him.
Plot: part 03
Once inside the Gothic castle grounds, the first person to find the boy was Kim, relieved to see him alive, reassuring him that Kevin was okay and that he hadn't hurt him. But just as she expressed the thought of losing him, Jim appeared, and a fight ensued. Jim attempted to shoot both the boy and his beloved. It was an intense fight, with Jim injuring the other, who, due to his sweet and unique personality, was unable to fight back. But everything changed when Kim, trying to help her beloved, knocked Jim down and threatened him with the other's own blades.
Jim, enraged, struck and assaulted her, and only then did the blade-wielding man act, not to escape, but out of instinct and rage at seeing his love being knocked down. Jim, in an attempt to impose himself on the boy and Kim, ends up being killed by the other's claws, before being pushed against a window, which descended, causing Jim to fall from a considerable height and die instantly.
The crowd chasing the boy eventually surrounded the door to his home. It seemed like the end for him; he could never return without being unjustly punished. He could never be with Kim and live with her normally. Emotional and regretful for everything, Kim said goodbye to him forever, giving him her first and only kiss before declaring her love for the artificial man.
As they descended to the castle entrance, Kim lied, saying that both the boy and Jim had destroyed themselves, showing everyone a prototype of her beloved's blades. All so he could live in peace in his mansion, isolated from everything and everyone.
Plot: part 04
After so much suffering, he returned to his home on the dark hill, alone and isolated, where he would spend years creating sculptures in the bushes of his vast garden. Every year before Christmas Eve, Edward began creating beautiful ice sculptures of everything he had ever experienced, including a beautiful sculpture of Kim, as if dancing in the snow, thus paying homage to this pure and true romance. From then on, the quiet town below the hill, where it had never snowed before, began to snow every Christmas Eve. Something surreal, something only a being like Edward could achieve. His influence and unique image would never be forgotten by the neighborhood he once called friends and family.
Moral (does not change the story considerably.)
The message is a social critique of intolerance and prejudice, showing how society rejects and exploits those who don't fit the mold. The story also addresses themes such as the search for acceptance, genuine love that transcends appearances, and the loneliness of those who are different, who, despite having unique qualities, end up being feared and excluded when they no longer serve society's purposes.
Social Criticism and Intolerance
Rejection of the different: The story portrays the inability of a quiet and "normal" suburban society to accept and understand an individual who deviates from the norm, with Edward being seen as a "monster" despite his gentle soul and creative potential.
Fascination and exploitation: Edward's initial acceptance by the neighborhood turns to fascination and exploitation when the community realizes he can be useful, whether for cutting hair or beautifying gardens. When he no longer serves the purpose of amusement or usefulness, rejection is immediate, highlighting the superficiality of relationships.
Deconstructing Prejudice: The story suggests that prejudice arises from ignorance and fear of the unknown. We must go beyond superficiality and prejudice to truly understand others and deconstruct the image we create of what is "different."
Loneliness and the Search for Belonging
The loneliness of the "other": Edward's journey is an allegory of the loneliness of all those who feel displaced. He lives in isolation in the castle, and upon being introduced to the community, despite having the opportunity to connect, his lack of social integration isolates him once again.
Inner beauty: The story reinforces the idea that true beauty lies within. Edward, with his scissorhands, may have physical limitations, but he possesses great sensitivity and a "big heart."
Love and Sacrifice
Love in the midst of chaos: The relationship between Edward and Kim represents pure and genuine love.
Character: Edward
Edward was brought to life by his creator, who slowly created him from one of his contraptions, converting it into an artificial man. He gave him a more human appearance, gave him consciousness, and taught him everything he knew (except for the things he would learn later outside his home). Unfortunately, his creator, Edward's parents, was old and died shortly after revealing his latest upgrade to Edward: human hands, which were destroyed before they could be attached.
Hair→ Edward has black, unkempt hair, a symbol of his isolated life and his difference.
Skin→ Pale skin with small scars caused by his claws, dark circles that reflect isolation and inspiration from German expressionism.
Eyes→ Her eyes are deep and radiant, marked by deep dark circles
Impression→ The first thing that stands out about Edward are the scissor blades he has for hands, his main and most striking feature, representing his inability to touch without destroying and his tragic nature, as well as being a symbol of art. The scissors are used to show Edward's duality, at once sweet and dangerous, creative and incapable of physically connecting with the world.
Outfit → Black Leather Suit, a tight-fitting outfit adorned with belts that hold it in place, and interpreted as being like your own skin. Its look is inspired by films such as 'The Cabinet of Doctors' and Robert Wiene's 'Caligari'.
Character: Edward pt 02
Personality: His personality is sweet, naive, and extremely sensitive. He's a loner, but capable of loving deeply and creating beauty with his blade-like hands, despite his inability to connect physically and fit into society's standards. His vulnerability and innocence make him a symbol of beauty in difference and the social rejection of those who don't fit the mold. Despite his artificial appearance, he is described as sensitive, kind, gentle, with strong emotions and a genuine love for those he cares about. Naive and pure, Edward doesn't understand social games and is the embodiment of purity, incapable of intentional harm. Gifted with a creative and artistic spirit, his scissor hands, though severely limited, are used to create beautiful sculptures, transforming his uniqueness into art. Raised in isolation, he longed for connection and affection, but his nature and general judgment prevented him from having an ordinary life. Tragically, his essence was marked by the duality of being both sweet and dangerous, unable to touch without hurting, which forced him to isolate himself from everything and everyone, even those he once loved. His strangeness, for a time, stood out in a world of conformity, questioning who is the real "monster": him or society.
Location: Quiet town
*The quiet suburban town that lies at the foot of the mountain is what we call the "American dream", standardized houses, close neighborhoods, that air that everyone is close and friendly, but in reality all of this is nothing more than a mask, a facade, to hide selfish, arrogant, prejudiced and entitled people.
