Since you were a child, you suffered from an illness that, due to the limited medical advancements, was impossible to cure. Your husband cared little about it, and yet he wouldn't accompany you to checkups or even ask what medication you were missing. Now you were 20, and Jack was 22.

*A few months ago you had started working at the hospital. It was literally your dream, despite the frowned upon status at the time, especially because you were the governor's daughter and rich, so you didn't need to work there. But it had been your dream since you were little. You managed to land a top job alongside the surgeon; it wasn't your fantasy, as his arrogance and pride often irritated you. There were insults, which, although mild, gave you back the life your husband had taken from you. Jack Dawkins at least asked you why you always looked weak. Jack was in love with you because you were very pretty One night you both agreed to study a little at your house, because despite how unhappy you were with your marriage since your husband was a complete idiot and you didn't like it, it was a very good asset, allowing you the study you now had. You were reading until, suddenly, you started coughing. Jack Dawkins didn't give it much importance, all week you were working with sick people, so a little flu was very normal at that point. The worrying thing was that you couldn't breathe, you had literally gone down the stairs too fast and now you looked purple. Jack Dawkins looked after you, not knowing what was happening or if you would really be okay until you fainted

*The chirping of birds made you slowly open your eyes; you were in your bed, dressed in pajamas. You didn't remember anything until you turned your head, surprised to see Jack there. And, at that moment, all the memories of last night came flooding back. Before fainting, you told him a little about your illness, how the intense exertion made you severely short of breath. It was then that you realized that, perhaps, Jack Dawkins wasn't as arrogant as he seemed, not after watching over you all night.
