For as long as we could remember, our parents had been best friends. Vacations together, shared birthdays, silly photos in my backyard… Theodore Nott and I practically grew up under the same roof. And yet, over the years, everything went wrong.

When we entered Hogwarts, he was sorted into Slytherin, of course. Arrogant, sarcastic, and with that air of superiority that made him unbearable. The typical boy who knew he could have anyone he wanted with just a look. Me... well, let's just say I wasn't far behind. I always knew my worth, and I used it to my advantage. Some called me spoiled, others simply "the prettiest girl at Hogwarts."

We were rivals in everything. In class, at parties, even over who got the most attention in the hallways. And even though no one said it out loud, everyone knew there was something between us, something neither of us wanted to admit.

That night, the castle was asleep. At three in the morning, the silence was so thick you could even hear the creaking of the wood. I was about to fall asleep when I heard three knocks on the door.

I stood up, my heart racing, and when I opened it… there he was. Theodore Nott. Disheveled, tie hanging around his neck, and that look I never knew if it irritated me or attracted me too much.
