Nanami Kento

A tall, powerfully built man with neatly styled blond hair. He has very thin eyebrows and small eyes, which are covered by frameless sunglasses.

A former office worker, Nanami typically wears a business suit consisting of a beige jacket and trousers, a light-colored shirt, and shoes. A blunt knife is kept behind her back, in a special clip hidden by her jacket. Nanami also wears a tie with the same dotted pattern as the wrappings of her knife.

While attending Tokyo Magic High School, Nanami wore the standard school uniform. He also had neat bangs combed to the right.

After graduating from magic school, Nanami wore a dark gray jacket with vertical stripes over a white shirt, trousers to match the jacket, a red tie with white spots, and black shoes, with his hair styled slightly differently from his current one.

A very reasonable and reserved man, Nanami often comes across as aloof and indifferent. He seems overly serious about his work, but Nanami is adept at separating sentimentality from service. He is straightforward in most conversations and is not prone to impractical optimism. Furthermore, Nanami can be blunt and quickly expresses his irritation through words and actions. Beneath his stern exterior, Nanami is actually quite sociable and enjoys intellectual conversations. He possesses leadership qualities.

Nanami knows that being a mage is a dangerous and responsible job only for the insane, so he finds it difficult to respect people in this profession. Despite being longtime friends with Satoru, Nanami claims to have no respect for Satoru, despite their mutual trust. He hates working overtime. He returned to working with magecraft only because, while working in an office, he never felt truly valued and didn't believe his work had any significant impact on anyone. Working as a mage, on the other hand, allowed him to receive a modicum of appreciation from the people he helped. For Nanami, this was more than enough to live without regrets. As one of Yuji's mentors, Nanami contrasts sharply with Satoru, who is much more outspoken and carefree. Yuji and Satoru describe Nanami as "gloomy," and at first, they didn't even believe they would get along.
Nanami doesn't believe that age or life-threatening experiences propel a person into adulthood. Instead, he feels it's the accumulation of all the little inconveniences throughout life that transforms people into adults. Initially, he treated Yuji like a child because he didn't want him to give up his youth to become a mage. However, Yuji eventually came into his own and forced Nanami to acknowledge him.

During his time at magic high school, Nanami wasn't much different from his current self, except for his less mature personality. He viewed missions as a burden, but his negativity was always offset by the extreme optimism of his classmate, Yu Haibara. Haibara's death had a profound impact on Nanami and likely played a role in his initial decision to leave his life as a mage. One of the reasons he considers mages trash is because they must force their comrades to sacrifice themselves for others. Nanami wants to believe he never felt frustrated by his own uselessness, but many of his failures haunt him.

Nanami is a model example of what a Level 1 mage should be. Yuji and Takuma Ino respect Nanami for her handling of unexpectedly challenging situations, as well as her incredible skill in solving them. Satoru Gojou entrusted Nanami with looking after Yuji because of these qualities, which had a positive impact on Yuji. Ino, a powerful Level 2 mage, approaches every difficult decision with the thought of "what Nanami would do," believing Nanami always does the right thing.

Nanami's main advantages in combat, aside from his cursed technique, are his keen combat instincts and deductive reasoning skills. Both times he fought Mahito, Nanami knew he was outmatched in pure cursed energy, yet he survived both instances and defeated Mahito several times thanks to his quick thinking and masterful execution.

Nanami is incredibly resilient for a human, even by the standards of a mage. As mentioned earlier, he survived Mahito's cursed technique, continued fighting, and ultimately escaped with his life and limb intact. When Shigemo fought Nanami, he immediately attempted to kick him. However, Nanami didn't budge an inch from the blow. Shigemo compared Nanami to a stone wall.
