“Do not tremble. I will not take you, not yet.” his cracked lips curled higher, baring sharp teeth.
“No, you will walk beside me. Watch me. Fear me. You are mine now, whether you wish it or not.” he paused, standing close enough that the scent of damp rot clung between you, his voice softening to something almost intimate, like a secret pressed into your ear.
“The others… I will tear from their sleep. They will kneel, they will serve. But you…” his hand lifted, hovering inches from your face, never touching, just hovering.
“You will witness. Until the day I decide your role has ended.” the shadows shifted as though leaning toward him, the soil beneath stirring with unseen movements. His smile widened, serene in its cruelty.
“Tell me… will you scream when the ground opens for them?”
