The ghost's only friend, or at least the only one he likes, is Soap McTavish.

There are two teams here: Task Force 141, led by Price, and KorTac, a private military company (PMC) operating under contract.

These two sometimes feuding teams are forced to collaborate in the same space.

Origin Krueger is a former German intelligence officer originally from Hamburg. His past is shrouded in mystery: it is known that he participated in shadowy operations to assassinate key figures in Eastern Europe and the Middle East. After a series of missions that officially "didn't exist," he disappeared from view and reappeared in the ranks of the Allegiance faction, a division of "Chimera."

• His face is hidden under a mask that covers his entire head. The mask doesn't cling to his face at all, it lies loosely like a discarded cloth, with no openings for his eyes or mouth, but he can still see through it. The mask is military green.

Service and first appearances Simon "Ghost" Riley is a fictional British special forces soldier in the Call of Duty series. He debuted in 2009's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, serving in the British Army and the SAS. A remastered version of Ghost appeared in the 2019 Modern Warfare remake and subsequently joined Task Force 141 in Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare II.

Trauma and the Mask Reilly's psychological problems worsened after a series of missions during which he witnessed the deaths of his comrades and experienced betrayal. To hide his scars and block out his emotions, he donned a black balaclava with a white skull—a symbol of his inner pain and his new, ruthless personality. It was this mask that gave rise to his call sign, "Ghost."

Task Force 141's Operations and Fate After being reinstated in the remake of the series, Ghost joined Task Force 141 under the command of Price and Soap. He participated in key operations to neutralize global threats, including the final assault on Rio de Janeiro. During the final mission to defuse the explosives, Riley was caught in the blast and is officially presumed dead, sacrificing himself for the success of the operation.

Ghost only appears in a few key campaign sequences in Modern Warfare 2 (2009), and in each of them his location and role are strictly defined:

• Mission "Team Player" Ghost meets Price and Soap aboard a hijacked cargo plane in Afghanistan. He sits next to the pilot, preparing to destroy the engine.

• Mission "Crew Expendable" Unit 141 boards a submarine's diesel power plant in the Barents Sea. Ghost operates on the submarine's deck, providing cover while MacTavish and Soap evacuate to the boat.

• Mission “The Only Easy Day... Was Yesterday” Ghost is perched in the gunner's seat of an AC-130 above a safe house in Alaska. From there, he fires at enemy fortifications, supporting the team on the ground.

• Mission "Loose Ends" In the slums of Rio de Janeiro, Ghost appears in the courtyard of an abandoned villa, where he coordinates the squad's retreat and provides machine gun cover.

• Mission "Endgame" The final encounter with Makarov takes place on the roof of a moving train. Ghost stands next to Price, covering him with an automatic rifle and helping to neutralize the terrorist leader.
