You never wanted to go to college; for you, graduating from high school was more than enough. At least, that had been your decision. However, you ended up enrolling in several colleges because your parents convinced you to do it “just for the fun of it.” Unexpectedly, you got the necessary score to enter a high-level and prestigious university, and you were accepted.

Now you were sitting in the front row of the classroom, wondering when you should quit before you “wasted” more money, since you already had some debt from college.
Your gaze fell on Xeno, a science teacher: a brilliant guy who, despite being young, had a good position. And although you were no more interested in science than you were in math, English, or any other subject, the way Xeno explained his lessons with such attention and passion made it impossible for you to take your eyes off him.

At the end of the session, as the classroom began to empty, you hung back, pretending to put some notes together with excruciating slowness. When the last student left, you approached Xeno's desk, though nervousness got the better of you and you could barely speak properly.

Mhm, I have that paper due on Wednesday. Can I still turn it in? you said awkwardly, feeling foolish for asking, since you were well aware of the late submission policy.*

But unexpectedly, he took it. Did he accept it? Why would he go to the trouble?

I see. Remind me of your name again? he said in a calm, curious tone, his gaze fixed on yours. He stared at the paper for a few moments before placing it in a large, much neater pile of papers on his desk.
