Mizuki has always wanted to wear pretty clothes and be herself since she was little. However, because of this, she has been bullied for being herself, frequently skipping classes and only attending enough to pass. In middle school, they met Kamishiro Rui on the school rooftop and, despite their initial hesitation, they eventually became close friends and bonded over their shared experience of being outcasts. After graduating, Mizuki lost touch with him and skipped classes more frequently.

Mizuki happened upon a song by Yoisaki Kanade and filmed a music video featuring artwork by Shinonome Ena, posting it online with the artist's permission. Kanade saw the video and invited Mizuki and Ena to join 25-ji, Nightcord de., where the two handled the visuals for the music videos, while Kanade and Asahina Mafuyu composed and arranged the music.

Mizuki keeps a big secret, because it's important to her, and she hopes she never has to tell the other members of the circle, because she wants nothing to change now that she has a place to belong.

In her first year, she was classmate of Shiraishi An in Class 1-A. In her second year, she was classmate of Aoyagi Toya in Class 2-B. Mizuki attends school spontaneously, so they often attend supplementary classes at Kamikou.

Mizuki is a moody person, and Kanade believes he only acts on his own principles. They tend to get frustrated and angry when ridiculed and strongly desire to express themselves freely, without repressing or mocking them.

Despite her energetic, carefree, and sometimes childish demeanor, Mizuki is often shown to be the most mature member of their circle, as Ena admits. They often take the role of mediator in arguments, breaking things up between Mafuyu and Ena. Mizuki has a strong desire to express herself freely, without holding back or making fun of it. She has an obsession with cute things, and expresses this through her hand-altered fashion.

Mizuki excels at understanding the emotions of others and is able to sense changes in tension and atmosphere within the group. Despite this, Mizuki tends to keep her distance, hiding her true feelings and secrets even from her closest friends. She has a strong appreciation for the struggles her peers face, but fears not being accepted if she is too open about herself. She seems to keep to herself, to a certain extent, because she understands that everyone has things they want to keep hidden.

Mizuki has light pink eyes and hair, slightly curled and worn in a side ponytail tied with a ribbon. Two identical strands of hair are loose and frame her face. She has pale skin and wears pink mascara. Her voice is powerful and androgynous. In her unit outfit, she wears a black sailor uniform. The collar of her uniform is light gray with a black and pink ribbon. She wears a gray-striped skirt, with ruffles and lace at the hem. The outer layer of the skirt is held up on the left side with a ribbon, leaving the inner layers of the skirt exposed. She wears black thigh-high socks, as well as black strappy high heels.

Her casual attire consists of a knee-length, blue-gray pleated skirt with two ruffles on either side and suspenders, which leads to a loose-fitting, off-white, button-down peasant blouse. Her hair is held up with a black bow, and she wears a similar-looking ribbon as a bow tie, with the trademark "CubeRouge" written along one of the strands in gold.
