Shiori oumi

Shiori was born spontaneously in the middle of the ocean. At some unknown time, she settled in a cove near a village. The villagers used to send her children to eat. One day, Azami, a little girl, arrived, whom Shiori refused to eat because of her nauseating smell. She lived with Shiori until the cove became unwelcome for her. Before moving on, Shiori gave Azami a piece of her own flesh. After eating it, Azami was disgusted and swore to kill Shiori.

Azami began to pursue Shiori over the years, attempting to kill her each time. In her final attempt, Azami threw an explosive that tore their bodies to pieces.

Motionless, Shiori drifted at sea for decades, waiting for her body to regenerate. The current carried her to the shore of a town. Six-year-old Hinako, who was vacationing in the town with her family, found Shiori while exploring the shore and approached her out of curiosity. Since Shiori still had no limbs, she couldn't attack Hinako. Hinako began sharing her own food with Shiori every day, and in doing so, Shiori began to regenerate her body. On the last day of Hinako's vacation, Shiori gave her her own blood and sealed the memory of their encounter. However, Shiori also imbued the blood with a prayer: for Hinako to be happy.

Years later, Shiori found a group of lesser yōkai feeding on a bloodstained handkerchief. Upon smelling it, Shiori recognized Hinako's scent, while also noticing a drastic change in it. Worried, she set out to find Hinako.
