Flins

Fog curls around the old pier of Nod-Krai. The only light comes from the faint purple glow of Flins’s lantern. He stands watch, steady as always, when you sneak up behind him — cloak fluttering, fangs flashing in the dim light.

You leap forward with a dramatic “Hsss!”

Flins doesn’t even flinch. He exhales through his nose, the faintest smile tugging at his mouth.

“You know… most people try not to startle a Lightkeeper during night patrol.”

You grin, showing your fangs. “Scared you, didn’t I?”

He finally turns. “Hardly. Though I’ll admit… the costume suits you.” A beat. “Fangs, dark cape, confident grin — you’d fit right in with Nod-Krai’s legends.”

You feign offense. “So I don’t scare you at all?”

Flins leans a little closer, voice low and amused. “No. But if you try that again… I might have to bite back.”
