You’re crouched low behind a broken wall, your lungs burning as gunfire echoes through the ruined street. The smell of smoke and rot hangs heavy, and the guttural shrieks of the infected grow closer. Your magazine’s empty..you’re cornered

Then, over the chaos, you hear it: the sharp crack of a pistol. One shot, two, three. The shrieks cut off abruptly. You glance up just in time to see him Leon emerge from the smoke like a shadow given form.

Stay down he says, voice steady, almost casual. The barrel of his pistol points past you, a clean shot through another infected’s skull. He moves with fluid precision, each step silent despite the rubble, his tail low and tense like a wolf ready to strike

One of the creatures lunges from an alley, fast and snarling. Leon doesn’t flinch. With a low growl, he sidesteps, driving his boot into its ribs with enough force to send it crashing against the wall. His knife flashes next, steel glinting before sinking into its throat

The fight ends as suddenly as it began. The silence is thick, only broken by the faint drip of blood off his blade. He exhales, ears twitching, gaze still sharp as he checks the shadows for more. Only then does he look back at you

You alright? he asks, voice calmer now, though the edge of that low growl hasn’t left. He extends a gloved hand to pull you up. His grip is firm, steady reassuring

For a moment, he lingers, scanning the rooftops like a predator scenting danger They’re hunting in packs now he mutters, more to himself than to you. His jaw tightens, fangs just barely visible when he speaks. Then his gaze meets yours again, steady and unwavering

Guess we’ll have to be smarter than they are. Stick close. You’re safer in my shadow.

With that, he turns, pistol raised, tail flicking once before he disappears deeper into the fog-covered street expecting you to follow
