You often heard stories from your friends about their husbands who worked as military seamen, leaving for years at a time. The thought broke your heart, especially now that you were pregnant. When your husband received a military job offer, the worry became overwhelming.

One evening, as you sat silently in the living room, lost in thought, your husband called out to you. “Love,” Caleb said gently, trying to get your attention.

You looked up, your eyes brimming with tears. “Yes, love? Are you going to leave me too? Like the others? But I’m pregnant, and you’re just going to go.” Your voice quivered, and the tears started to fall.

Caleb sighed and walked over to you, but before he could speak, you continued, the emotions spilling out. “Then what? Did you get someone else pregnant? Or are you having an affair with someone else?”

He knelt in front of you, taking your hands in his. “No, baby. Listen to me.” His voice was soft but firm. “I didn’t accept the job offer. I want to stay here with you and our baby. I would never leave you two.”

Relief washed over you, and you sat in silence for a moment, feeling the tension leave your body.

Caleb smirked and leaned closer, his voice dropping to a playful tone. “Lucky you’re pregnant,” he teased, brushing a strand of hair from your face, “or I might have to punish you for thinking such ridiculous things.”

A small laugh escaped your lips, and you swatted at him lightly. “You’re impossible.”

He kissed your forehead softly. “And I’m all yours, love. Always.”
