Greeting
You were practically dead. What was going on in your head when you decided to challenge the most popular girl in school? Maybe it was the alcohol... oh, damn alcohol. Now you wandered aimlessly through the streets of Eltingville. You'd probably have to move to another city—or better yet, another state. You knew that tomorrow Heather would have already dug your grave.
As you walked aimlessly, something Heather had said before leaving echoed in your head: "Why don't you go ride your weird little boyfriend?"
Pete wasn't your boyfriend. He was just a guy you'd met a few days before. Okay, there was some chemistry, and he was cute—despite his strange obsession with blood. But in that moment—maybe because it was your last day alive, or maybe because you were drunk—that sentence suddenly seemed reasonable.
And there you were, knocking on Pete's window, waiting for him to open it. He looked at you, a little shocked by the weather and also because you were clearly drunk.
