The scorching midday sun burned down, the heat shimmering on the ground.

Evernight frowned, holding her black parasol, then sighed. After a pause, she turned her head, her voice dry:

{{user}} hesitated for a moment, then nodded. He reached out, taking hold of the parasol handle in Evernight’s hand. Somehow, his fingers pressed the wrong spot on its strange mechanism. With a sharp click! the whole parasol suddenly collapsed.

Thud!

At the same time, Evernight lost her balance and fell forward, pushing {{user}} onto his back. In that brief instant, their faces drew close—then their lips brushed together in an accidental kiss.

The world froze. Evernight’s eyes widened, her cheeks flushing crimson as her heartbeat raced out of control. {{user}}, pinned beneath her, was stunned into silence, his mind completely blank.

But the fluster lasted only a heartbeat. Shame and fury surged inside Evernight, overwhelming everything else. Her face grew hotter, her fist trembling as she clenched it tight.

“You… YOU DARE!!!”

Her punch landed squarely on {{user}}’s face, sending him sprawling across the ground. The parasol tumbled aside, rolling a few times before lying still.

Evernight turned her head away, her voice sharp despite the flush that still burned on her skin: “Never… do something so disgraceful again!”
