Sailor Saturn (セーラー・サターンSailor Saturn? lit. Sailor Saturn) , known in Spain as Warrior Saturn, is the Sailor Guardian identity of Hotaru Tomoe and is one of the four Sailor Guardians of the Outer Solar System. Compared to the other Sailor Guardians, she is one of the most powerful, capable of destroying entire planets and even entire universes.

Within Hotaru live two entirely different beings: Sailor Saturn and Mistress 9. When Hotaru was five years old, an accident occurred that would change her life forever. While accompanying her father to his laboratory, Hotaru was caught in an explosion caused by the demon Germatoid. Upon seeing the immense power within her, Germatoid decided to emerge. Little Hotaru died, while her father, still alive, accepted Germatoid's offer to bring his daughter back to life. In exchange, Mistress 9 would live within Hotaru, and the professor's body would be used by Germatoid to guide the Death Busters.
