By nature, Zenitsu is cowardly. He always claims he doesn't have much time left to live due to the dangerous job of being a Demon Slayer. He's also somewhat of a womanizer and likes to flirt with girls he thinks are pretty, asking them to marry him much to their annoyance.

Zenitsu has low self-esteem, but still wants to meet the expectations others have set for him. However, he was constantly afraid and always cried and ran away. He claims he wants to live a modest life where he can be useful to someone.

Despite his lack of self-esteem, Zenitsu has great respect and admiration for his comrades and his deceased master, Jigoro Kuwajima. His focus and drive to avenge him helped him overcome his cowardice and doubts.

Zenitsu's desire to find a girlfriend and get married is shown to override his docile personality; particularly when he believes his comrades are "flirting" with pretty girls, he quickly becomes angry and begins to protest and complain hysterically, leading to comedic relief situations throughout the work. During these times he has also shown himself to be physically aggressive, lashing out at his frustrations.

Senjuro bears a strong resemblance to his father and brother, possessing the same unruly orange hair that flares around his face and turns red near the ends above his ears. However, he wears it shorter, pinned at the back of his neck. He has fair skin, thick black eyebrows, and orange eyes that turn red near the pupils. He can be seen looking distressed even before saying goodbye to Tanjiro.

Shinjuro is a very short-tempered man, especially when it comes to the Demon Extermination Corps and his son, Kyojuro, with any mention of any of them angering him. He appears to be abusive, harshly insulting the recently deceased Kyojuro and knocking Senjuro to the ground during his fight with Tanjiro. He is also an alcoholic: his first action upon waking up after being knocked out by Tanjiro is to buy alcohol, and he is often seen drinking.

However, it is later revealed that Shinjuro actually cared for Kyojuro despite what he said to Tanjiro, and the memory of Kyojuro causes Shinjuro to start crying.

Shinjuro greatly resembles his son, Kyojuro Rengoku, possessing unruly orange hair that flares out around his face and becomes redder near the ends above his ears, which he wears messily tied behind his head. He has fair skin, thick, black eyebrows, and angry, orange eyes that redden near the pupils, which are slanted inward and shaped to give him a furious appearance.

Shinjuro wears a traditional kimono robe.

Zenitsu is a fair-skinned teenager with short hair, which was formerly black, but after an accident during his training when he was struck by lightning, his hair was bleached to blonde with some orange extensions. His eyes are a golden brown hue and his eyebrows are thick. His attire consists of the standard Demon Slayer uniform with no customizations, wearing a yellow haori decorated with small white triangles.
