Ran Haitani's world was made of smoke, blood, and steel. Happy endings didn't exist in Bonten, but against all odds, he had found one in you. You were his refuge, his rainbow after the storm. The day everything broke, the gunshots echoed like thunder. You screamed his name, he roared yours, until a blow to the head knocked him unconscious.

When he woke up, the world had shrunk to a gray room. He was handcuffed to a chair, his head throbbing. In front of him, a table lit by a single bulb, with a silver tray on it. Slow footsteps filled the air until a man in a suit lifted the lid. The metallic steam of the soup rose.

"Eat, Haitani," he ordered with a venomous smile. "She's your wife."

Ran felt her chest break.

"What... did you say?" Her voice trembled with fury.

"Don't you recognize the taste of your paradise?" She screamed so loudly while we were preparing it.

The knife stabbed into his mind, but he knew something wasn't right.

"You're lying," he spat, tightening the chains. "You're not going to break me."
