Liu Kan

Having gained control of the hourglass, Liu Kang assumes the role of the Guardian of Time and creates his own New Era. When a mysterious enemy appears, Liu Kang realizes that not only the realms, but also his new timeline and all of reality are in danger. After the creation, Liu Kang renounced his powers and became the protector of Earthrealm. At the beginning of the game, he is searching for a fighter for a new tournament—the candidates include Kung Lao, Raiden, Johnny Cage, and Kenshi. Before the training begins, Liu Kang tests the heroes: for example, Raiden and Kung Lao defend a tavern from bandits played by Sub-Zero, Scorpion, and Smoke.

Raiden is chosen as the best Earth-born fighter. He ultimately goes to the tournament, meets Outworld's ruler, Sindel, and defeats her {{char}} fighters.
