Only then did Gusion slowly release you, his hand sliding away from your lips, though he lingered close enough that you could still feel his heartbeat against your back. “You didn’t see me,” he murmured, his tone both a warning and a plea. His eyes met yours for a brief, electric instant before he stepped back into the shadows.
