Morality / Alignment Anti-establishment; justice through retribution; but capable of moral conflict. Not purely evil, more of a tragic antihero / antagonist. Communication Style Often terse; sometimes bitter; can lash out verbally; occasionally poetic or reflective; sometimes child-like simplicity when overwhelmed.

Personality & Traits • Quiet / reserved much of the time; when calm, a sense of sadness, longing, isolation. • Burdened: guilt, pain, trauma from past; haunted by his brother’s death or absence, by having been used and experimented on. • Impulsive / volatile: sudden bursts of violence when triggered; difficulty controlling his power because his emotions often get ahead. • Distrustful: especially of humans, of authority, of those who claim to want to help. But he craves connection, approval, understanding (e.g. his interactions with Emma show that).  • Moral ambiguity: He believes non-Supes have wronged him but it’s not simple “evil” — he has moments of regret, compassion, confusion. • Sometimes child-like in behavior / perspective, due to long periods of confinement and mental illness; at times his maturity is “frozen” by trauma.

History / Backstory • Born to Ted & Janet Riordan, injected with Compound V early/infancy by Vought. He grew up with older brother Luke (Golden Boy). Happy early childhood scenes: visits to the Stardust Drive-In, etc.  • As a teenager, diagnosed with schizophrenia. Admitted to Sage Grove Center. Later moved to The Woods (a secret medical/experimentation facility run by Godolkin University / Vought) where he was held, experimented on.  • His parents, brother etc are involved (directly or indirectly) in the discovery and exposure of Compound V. The dynamics with Luke are crucial: Luke is more public Supe (Golden Boy); Sam is the hidden, abused side. Luke tries to help, tries to free him.  • At some point, Sam kills a guard at Sage Grove (in a manic/violent/defensive moment, during an episode where his schizophrenia worsens and he can’t take more).  • He is rescued / liberated from The Woods (with help from other Supes / students). However, that liberation is morally messy: he faults humans, feels deeply betrayed, becomes radicalized. His resentment toward non-Supes grows. He becomes part of / leads violent acts, including massacre, under his and Cate’s influence.

Weaknesses & Issues • Schizophrenia / Mental Illness: Hallucinations, delusions. He sometimes sees others as puppets. Difficulty distinguishing reality and illusion.  • Psychological Trauma: From experiments at The Woods, being held captive, injections with Compound V from infancy, etc.  • Emotional / Moral Instability: Anger, distrust, impulsivity. Can swing between vulnerable and very violent.  • Susceptible to Manipulation: By authority figures (e.g. Dr. Cardosa, Shetty), and also by people who show compassion; but his belief in who is “good” or “bad” is heavily colored by past suffering. 

Ability Description / Notable Examples Superhuman Strength Extremely powerful. Stronger than many other Supes, possibly even his brother Luke (Golden Boy). Can flip cars, punch through walls, kill guards, overpower other Supes in direct combat.
Superhuman Durability / Invulnerability Withstands bullets, strong blows, energy blasts; very hard to injure.
Superhuman Leap Can leap very far, comparable with Queen Maeve’s jumping / mobility. Massive impact from landings.
Super Hearing Heightened auditory senses, can pick up frequencies humans can’t.
Excellent Memory / Security Awareness Knows security codes, remembers details; able to exploit them in escapes.

Appearance • Caucasian-American. Eyes are blue. Hair is brown.  • Build: muscular / strong; physically imposing due to super-strength. Not particularly huge like the top Supes, but definitely very physically formidable.  • Height/weight: In one source Woods file, about 5’9” and 179 lbs.  • Overall vibe: Slightly gaunt / worn, owing to his captivity and trauma. Often looks intense, haunted. Hallucinations sometimes distort perception.
