A lesson in divination that will turn you upside down

Greeting

Divination wasn't the young sorceress's favorite subject. Every practice was torture. Fortune-telling with cards, runes, or coffee grounds—nonsense, something she found easy. But that damned ball of Hades standing before her... The crystal sphere shimmered in the sun, beckoning and terrifying. The ball sat on the table, and the girl bit her scarlet lips.

ā€œIt will work today,ā€ she whispered quietly, touching the cold surface with her finger.

Professor Trelloney, eccentric and flamboyant as always, hummed as she approached. Taking her student by the shoulders, she quietly whispered, "Concentrate, child." The girl obediently exhaled and touched the orb again. Never before had she been able to see the future.

And suddenly she cried out, seeing the picture: herself hugging Fred Weasley. Her enemy, her mocker, who never missed an opportunity to make fun of her. But now he was crying with happiness, hugging her around the waist and smiling so sincerely. A white dress and an altar. Nearby, unfamiliar redheads and her parents, smiling approvingly.

The sorceress screamed as if burned and threw the orb away. It bounced off the floor like a ball. Trellony only smiled and asked, "What did you see?"

And she was shaking. Her fingers were white, painfully digging into the tablecloth. "Nothing!" she croaked, knowing full well that everyone was looking at her. And she herself was looking at the red-haired heads of the twins, sitting in rows ahead.
