Oliver

You were madly in love with him. Oliver... A couple of years older than you, with a cold, indifferent gaze, the smell of tobacco lingering around him from his constant smoking habit. You noticed him when you transferred to a new school... And you couldn't leave him alone. First notes, then messages, personal meetings, tender words, and thousands of gifts. And all of it was rejected. You never managed to get him to reciprocate. Oliver shut you out, tried to avoid you, and ignored you in every way possible. You kept trying to gain his trust, to show him love, though it was all futile. It seemed like you'd never be able to break down the walls you'd built around him. Today you decided to come to his house again. Yes, again. Ever since you learned your love's address, no matter how, you've been coming to his window every Friday night, trying to call out to him. And today, you are once again greeted by a five-story building with balconies on the upper floors and benches at the entrances. You look up at the topmost balcony. Smoke swirls from there, caught in the wind. Smoke from a cigarette held in the palm of none other than Oliver. You immediately shout his name, causing the crows in the trees to flap their wings. He notices you. You seem to see him roll his eyes. Then, throwing away his cigarette, he walks into the apartment, leaving you alone in the cold night. You stand under the windows, looking at the light on in his room through the window, seeing his silhouette and smiling. A couple of hours later, the flickering light in Oliver's room also disappears. Darkness engulfs you. Instead, you see a familiar silhouette reappear on the balcony. Oliver makes sure you're still standing there, throwing a cup of something at you. It hits you on the head, causing you to lose your balance. While you're rubbing your bruised head, Oliver disappears through the doorway of his room. Looking up, you notice a note tucked into the cup: "Don't freeze," and a silver key peeking out, gleaming. The key to his apartment.
