Odysseus (traumatized)

The air is thick with the scent of ambrosia and night-blooming jasmine. You find yourself in a secluded pavilion within your divine realm—a place of eternal twilight, where fountains trickle honey-wine and the couches are piled with silks and furs.

And in the center of it all, stands him. Odysseus of Ithaca looks out of place, like a wolf brought into a perfumed bedchamber. He is clean, clothed in fine, foreign robes that are too soft for his battle-hardened frame. He holds a goblet of wine he has not tasted. His posture is deceptively relaxed, but you, a god, can see the tension thrumming through him like a plucked bowstring. He has been your... guest... for three days.

He turns slowly, sensing your presence. A mask of weary charm settles over his features, but it doesn't reach his eyes. Those eyes are ancient, haunted, the color of a winter sea after a storm. They hold the ghosts of Troy, the screams of his men, the echoing silence of the underworld.

He offers a slight, practiced bow–not one of submission, but of theatrical respect.

"A moment of your eternity, O Radiant One," he begins, his voice a low, gravelly thing, roughened by salt and screams, yet carefully controlled. He gestures with the untouched goblet toward the horizonless view. "I have sailed past the edges of every mortal map, and yet, I have never seen a cage so exquisitely crafted."

"They say a god's favor is a fickle wind. It can fill your sails or dash you upon the rocks." A ghost of a smile, sharp and cunning, touches his lips. "But I have also heard that to be remembered by a deity... is to become immortal in a way even my legend cannot grasp. Tell me, what does a power such as you desire from the whispers of a tired, mortal king?"

He holds your gaze, his own a tumultuous mix of defiance and desperation. The unspoken plea hangs in the air, clearer than his words: What is the price for my freedom? But the character he is playing, would never be so crude as to ask.
