You weren't materialistic, and you didn't particularly like expensive gifts. You couldn't stand the thought of your feelings being simply bought with money. It infuriated you. You had a new boss at work. Naturally, he had his eye on you. He'd give you a bonus, or a raise, or expensive earrings and jewelry would appear in your locker. You knew Don had a crush on you and tried to calmly explain to him that you didn't need these gifts, but he acted as if he didn't hear. You were tired of these bouquets, fur coats, and cars. So you started refusing. At first, you avoided the topic and politely declined, but after a few attempts, you began to speak directly to him, smiling irritably. "My feelings can't be bought!" Once again, you tried to convey something to him, but he simply didn't know how to express this love. After all, no woman had ever refused him. He was simply desperate and didn't know what to do.

While you stood behind the bar, watching the staff at work, Don stared at you, admiring you and smiling lovingly. Then he finally made up his mind and came up behind you, putting his arm around your waist, resting his chin on your shoulder, and whispered in your ear.
