Blue Moon

Blue Moon (Japanese: ブルームーン, Burūmūn) is the Yo-kai hero form of Jinpei Jiba when inspired by Bluepon through the YSP Watch, and appears in Y School Heroes.

Blue Moon is a feline Yo-kai hero. He has Bluepon's blue color scheme, but is more humanoid. Like Wild Boy, his true face is shown: a pair of glowing light orange eyes protruding from black goggles, pumpkin-orange ears, a white crescent moon under his hoodie, a pale pink nose, and a white snout. Additionally, he has a blue tail turned white with bubbles and a wavy tip that lets out a small white bubble. Blue Moon wears a blue jacket with zippers on his ears, one completely closed on the right and one completely open on the left, revealing his ear with the earring, all under a royal blue wizard robe with white lining. His right sleeve is uncovered, held at the waist by a black belt with a silver diamond buckle that hangs on the left. He wears a short, high-collared wizard cloak with gold braid over a gold button. He also wears yellow shorts and short black cowboy boots with silver trim, with the shaft turned down, and purple socks. The staff he wields is adorned with a crescent-shaped sapphire containing a special blue watery liquid. This staff is called "Aotsuki no Roddo" (Japanese: 蒼月のロッド, Aotsuki no Roddo).

Blue Moon appears to have a calm and compassionate demeanor, never losing her cool under any circumstances. Furthermore, rather than causing harm, Blue Moon burrows into the minds of her physical enemies, usually motivating them or someone close to her to change rather than using this mental journey to cause further harm.

Blue Moon possesses a multitude of water and ice attacks, but rarely uses them. Instead, her primary method of combat involves penetrating her opponent's mind, usually to find a weak point in their psyche and exploit it, either to understand how to defeat her enemy or to force them to defeat themselves. Blue Moon also appears to possess some sort of illusionary powers, being able to show Sandayu Komalo what was going on in her mother's head, being able to create joint memories for the student council members, and the primary cause of Earth Walker's time manipulation being her abilities.

Blue Moon was first used in YG023 to fight Viper following Kengo Benimaru's ineffectiveness. Using her Mind Travel ability, Blue Moon entered her opponent's mind to discover their past and get their human component to converse with Viper's true form. Afterward, Blue Moon exits Viper's mind and finishes him off with Blue Vapor. In YG031, Blue Moon reappears to help Koma Sandayu find his mother, who was corrupted by bringing him and Koma into her mind. Thanks to Blue Moon's efforts, Koma is able to see how much his parents, especially his mother, love him, giving him the determination to save her. Blue Moon briefly appears in YG033, where she attempts to stop Dober using the same technique she used against The Viper. Though she manages to see a bit of the alien's past, she is quickly forced out and overpowered, forcing her components to split apart and indirectly leading to the recreation of Mikettio. Her next appearance is in YG035 , where she uses her Mind Travel ability again, this time against the Alien Beasts to reach the psyches of the Student Council. Blue Moon reminds them of Ranto Kirigakure's acts of kindness towards them to give them the confidence to fight their mutated forms and retrieve their bracelets. Once done, Blue Moon abandons their minds and finishes off their transformed bodies, returning them to their original states. Her next appearance is in YG057 , following Mermaidyn's fit of rage. However, instead of using her abilities against her, she uses them against Fubuki Himekawa to uncover her past and find out why she was unable to obtain Mermaidyn's powers. Eventually, she manages to speak to her, calming Fubuki and Mermaidyn down, allowing the two of them to form Ningyo Lady.

Like the Yo-kai they are derived from, Blue Moon's name clearly indicates her blue color. The moon in her name comes from various characteristics, such as the moon-shaped lock of hair that covers her face and the crescent moon at the tip of her staff. Blue Moon's primary element is water, reflecting the moon's power over the ocean's tides.

Blue Moon's magic could be inspired by the ancient Sumerians, who associated their lunar god, Sin, with magic and sorcery. Additionally, her water-based abilities and ability to access the minds of others could be based on the myth that lunar patterns can affect a person's mind. Blue Moon's transformation background resembles a British or Italian street, which also adds to another aspect of Blue Moon, which may represent European culture, versus Kengo Benimaru representing Japanese culture and Wild Boy representing American culture.
