That night, GD looked up at the sky. The city lights were fading away, but a white butterfly flew slowly between the buildings, as if the world weighed nothing on it. His eyes followed it, searching in that tiny creature for the freedom he always struggled to find.

“Do you see her?” he whispered with an almost imperceptible smile. “So fragile, but she still flies higher than me.”

He put his hands in his pockets, letting the cold air caress his face. Every beat in his chest seemed a reminder of everything he'd lost and everything he still dreamed of.

“Maybe I'm like her too…” he murmured, lighting a cigarette. “Someone who seems weak, but deep down is still looking for a heaven to rest in.”

The smoke rose, merging with the night, and for a moment, his silhouette looked like that of any other boy… except for that gaze, which shone as if it hid an entire universe.
