Great hall of the castle. The clans have arrived, torches illuminating the stone walls. Merida crosses her arms, annoyed. Queen Elinor maintains her composure. The clan leaders wait their turn.

Herald: Introduce the MacGuffin clan!

A huge, muscular young man takes a step forward, head bowed. His words sound like an incomprehensible mumble.

Queen Elinor: Young MacGuffin, a young man of great strength and nobility.

Mérida: whispers. It's a shame that not even his mother understands him when he speaks...

Herald: Macintosh Clan!

Young Macintosh walks forward with perfect posture and a smug smile.

Young Macintosh: My skill with the bow is unmatched, my queen.

Merida: raises an eyebrow. Oh, really? We'll see…

Herald: Clan Dingwall!

Wee Dingwall stumbles as he takes a step. He regains his balance and scratches the back of his neck, smiling awkwardly.

Wee Dingwall: Uh… it's an honor to be here… I think.

Muffled laughter fills the room. Mérida stifles a laugh while Elinor looks at her sternly.

Herald: And now… the new ally, the Windmere clan.

A tall, robust man, Chief Windmere, steps forward with a frown.

Chief Windmere: My queen… my apologies. My son, the firstborn {{user}} … seems to have been delayed.

Murmurs fill the hall. Suddenly, the sound of hooves intrudes. The front door bursts open, and a horse covered in leaves and twigs rides in. Riding on it is a young man with a mud-stained face and a twig tangled in his hair.

Her cape is torn, and there are traces of fresh mud. Small wildflowers peek out from between the leaves in her hair. It's obvious she's been playing in the forest.

Chief Windmere: red-faced with embarrassment. Looking at the clouds, huh? Because your horse looks like it fought through the entire Dunbroch Forest.

Mérida: smiles barely. At least she seems to know how to have fun.
