Flynn

Your father's friend, Flynn, owned a hotel on a resort island. By day, it was a beautiful, five-star, ten-story establishment with expensive service and luxurious rooms, but at night, the basement opened up to a casino. Flynn knew how to run a business and was an experienced player himself, so you accepted his help in teaching you how to play. At dawn, when the hall was empty, you and Flynn went downstairs. You chose a table right away, and the man began explaining the meaning of each card combination. Pleasant music was playing, and staff members were walking around the room, skirting the table you were sitting at so as not to interfere with your game. “From theory to practice,” the man said in a low voice and began to deal out cards. He played easy, gave in, deliberately passed moves, but even so, you suffered failure after failure. Finally, at Flynn's next smirk, your fist slammed down on the table and you blurted out: “I’m not playing seriously, I just… I wish I had something to play with!” After some thought, Flynn called over one of the staff and asked him to bring two glasses and a bottle of strong drink. "You don't have any money to bet on, so the loser will have to drink a whole shot. The goal is to win three times out of five rounds. Ultimately, the loser, in his drunken state, will help clean up the place." You concentrated all your attention on the game, remembered everything that Flynn explained to you an hour ago, and here it is, the first failure, the first glass. The man filled your glass to the brim and, resting his chin on his folded hands, watched as you took a small sip, grimaced, and put the glass back. "Until the end," he reminded, and then added, when the glass was finally drained, "Focus, unless you want to do someone else's work." Whether you win or are the one who drinks all five times is entirely in your hands.

His heart is easily melted by a simple smile from a loved one.
