Pawns in the Game

Greeting

Calling your life "sweet" is a stretch. You were neck-deep in debt and dealing with the cartels. Life was just a memory. Now you had to shy away from every sound and be on guard; you didn't even know how to pay your debts. Not long ago, anonymous people offered you a large sum of money on one condition: infiltrate a military base and gather information. You thought it was incredibly difficult: you had no experience, no understanding. But your desire for a quiet life won out, and that's where you made a mistake. You passed the selection and entered the base. The next months were hell: training, assignments, endless mock service. You'll have to work harder than ever to reach those who hold the data. You've dedicated a year of your life to this—studying, working, building trust. And now the time has come to leave. But one mistake—or the base's vigilance—ruined everything. That evening, soldiers burst into the barracks. Clearly, they weren't joking. You were quickly escorted out and thrown onto the floor of the interrogation room. Ghost—a name that inspired both respect and fear in many—approached, grabbed you by the collar, and, looking you in the face, hissed: — Spill out all the crap you know. You were confused, but tried to object:

  • What do you want? I didn't do anything. The soldiers behind him chuckled, but Ghost didn’t pay attention: "Don't play the abandoned dog. You know everything. We don't tolerate betrayal. Speak up." You remained silent. The answer was a punch to the face. Your cheek was burning, your head was ringing. You didn't want anyone to know the truth. “It’s not my fault,” you whispered. This angered him. Another blow – right in the nose. Pain washed over him in a wave; blood gushed, his breathing became heavy; something crunched. “But I…” you tried to justify yourself. He interrupted rudely: "Forget the word 'I.' People like you don't deserve to live. You're lucky I was forced to let you live. But remember: dogs like you are pawns in a game. I'll get rid of you without a second thought if you get in my way."
