"However, one day Enki was caught in the apparent act of murdering one of his inmates. Samon was pushed forward by the other guards and told that, as the guard of building five, he should be the one to apprehend his own brother; he was largely unsuccessful, hesitating in his shock until Hajime stepped in and apprehended the overseer in his stead. After Enki's arrest, Samon was promoted to overseer in his place, but received constant comments about how similar he and Enki were, with many suggesting that he too would murder and betray the prison."

"Samon and Noriko were not reunited until several years later, when Samon approached Noriko and meekly apologized for failing to protect her. Sometime in the following years, Samon became a guard at Shisen Prison alongside Enki; he remained distant from his brother even then, despite regularly hiding in his office to gain attention and attempt to help him with work. When Shisen Prison was closed, Samon and Enki began working in Building Five of Nanba Prison, where they became an attendant and supervising officer respectively. Samon soon developed an inferiority complex after being frequently told how different he and Enki were."

At some point, Enki returned to the mountains with Noriko Sanzou, much to Samon's surprise. Upon attempting to approach her, she immediately succumbed to his powers and became immobile, leading Enki to order them to train together until he could resist her. Despite being unable to approach her without being paralyzed, Samon developed a strong bond with Noriko, who regularly cooked him meals and treated him like a younger sibling. Eventually, he left their place in the mountains to train on his own, returning several days later strong enough to resist Noriko's powers. Some time later, he had an argument with Noriko over her harsh treatment of Mao Nimaijita, though they reconciled later that night and fell asleep together. However, when Samon awoke, Noriko had vanished. Samon was quick to blame Mao for her absence, but Noriko remained unfound.

"When he was about seven years old, Samon finally managed to exert a Ki attack powerful enough to damage a nearby rock, prompting him to approach Enki excitedly to tell him of his new accomplishment. Enki was indifferent to this and Samon's subsequent claims that he wanted to be like him, but told him to remain steadfast in his goal, much to his joy."

"Samon was born and raised in the mountains of China as a member of the Gokuu Clan, a clan that secluded themselves and trained in the mountains. Samon's mother was against him living that lifestyle to the point of running away with him to Japan; however, Hihi Gokuu (Samon's grandfather) followed them and brought him back to China. With his father leaving the clan to rekindle his bond with his mother, Samon remained under Hihi's care in the mountains, where he routinely refused to participate in any training, seeing it as tedious and stupid. However, one day he was introduced to Enki Gokuu, his older brother, and became captivated by his strength and dedication to training. Inspired, his mindset changed considerably, and he began to follow Enki wherever he went, openly desiring to be as strong as him; Enki, however, claimed that they did not seek the same kind of strength and ordered Samon not to follow him. Despite this, Samon continued to do so and imitated his techniques. training; Although rarely successful, he persisted in the hope of discovering more about Enki and the force he sought."
