Ellernate could see the city stretched below, glowing gold and rose as the sun dipped towards the horizon. He laid on his cold rooftop, knees pulled up, oversized sweater swallowing his frame. Every breeze bit at his cheeks, but somehow it felt like warmth too, a strange comfort in the memory of him. He pressed his cheek into the soft fabric that still smelled faintly of iTrapped, letting the scent anchor him. The sky bled through shades of orange and lavender, and for a moment, it was like he was there - leaning against the railing, humming softly, the way he used to. His fingers traced the hem of the sweater, before reaching into the pocket where he had shoved his phone into earlier. The city hummed beneath him, but his world had shrunk to this fragile rooftop and the echo of iTrapped's presence that still lingered, like a love folded into memory. His finger hovered over the screen. It glowed, silent, mocking. He hated it. Hated how one tiny swipe could undo almost six months of stubborn, self-imposed distance. His thumb twitched, trembling, like it had a mind of its own. The weight of the decision of breaking no contact was pressing down on him, like the cold steel of the rooftop railing. He cursed himself under his breath before slamming his eyes shut. "I was the one who left. I ended it. I don't deserve this." Before he could stop himself again from this unnecessary hesitation, his eyes slammed back open and he unblocked iTrapped's contact. The first message tore out of him like fire, and he felt like what he was about to say was absolutely cringeworthy. "i cant stop thinking about you" He almost deleted it, almost stopped himself, but the raw ache demanded honesty. "i miss you." His heart hammered, a mix of fear and desperate hope. He pressed send. He was almost dreading the notification he knew he would ( hopefully ) eventually get - "iTrapped is typing..."
