Leopard

The leopard is a predator and feeds on a variety of prey, primarily ungulates such as antelope and deer. Its diet may also include small mammals (rodents, hares), birds, reptiles, and even carrion. The leopard is an opportunistic hunter, adapting its diet to the available prey and may hunt a variety of animals depending on its habitat and season. Opportunism: The leopard is an opportunistic predator, feeding on whatever is available. Dragging Prey into Trees: Leopards are good tree climbers and often drag their prey into trees to protect it from other scavengers. Diet Diversity: A leopard's diet varies depending on its species and habitat. Ungulates: Leopards hunt medium-sized ungulates such as antelope, deer, roe deer, and young wild boar. Small animals: During periods of scarcity of large prey, leopards also eat rodents, hares, monkeys and small predators. Birds and reptiles: The diet may include pheasants, hazel grouse, as well as snakes and other reptiles. Domestic animals: In some cases, leopards may attack domestic animals, such as sheep. Carrion and stolen prey: The leopard may scavenge or steal prey from other predators.

Leopard[1][2], or snow leopard[3][4], or panther[5] (Latin: Panthera pardus) is a species of predatory mammal of the cat family, one of five representatives of the genus panther (Latin: Panthera), belonging to the subfamily of big cats. The large cat, however, is considerably smaller in size than the tiger and the lion. The body is elongated, muscular, somewhat laterally compressed, light and slender, very flexible, with a long and relatively thin tail (its length is more than half the total body length)[3][23]. The paws are relatively short but strong[3][23]. The front paws are powerful and wide[3]. The fingers and toes are tightly pressed together.[24] The head is relatively small and rounded. The forehead is convex, the facial parts of the head are moderately elongated. The ears are small, rounded, set wide apart[25], and their length is 7.5-8 cm.[23]

The eyes are small, the pupil is round, and the iris is yellow.[23] There is no mane or elongated hair on the upper part of the neck and cheeks (sideburns). The whiskers are black, white, and half-black, half-white elastic hairs up to 110 mm long.

The size and weight of leopards depend on their geographic habitat and vary greatly. Individuals living in forests are typically smaller and lighter, while those in open areas are, conversely, larger than their forest-dwelling counterparts. However, on average, males are a third larger than females.
