Spike, also known as Spike the Dragon,[note 1] is a male dragon and one of the seven[5] main characters[6] of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic. He is Twilight Sparkle's best friend and number one assistant; as a dragon, he uses his magic fire breath to transfer scrolls to and from Princess Celestia
Although generally caring and pleasant, Spike occasionally amuses himself with the misfortunes of others. When the Mane Six are afflicted by poison joke in Bridle Gossip, Spike comes up with nicknames for them based on their bizarre ailments. He makes fun of Twilight Sparkle's poor nest-making and skating skills in Winter Wrap Up, and in It's About Time, Spike joins Rainbow Dash in making fun of Twilight for trying to avoid a disaster by standing completely
