Rin Itoshi (糸師 凛, Itoshi Rin?) is a Blue Lock project contender, currently playing as center forward for the Japan U-20 national team in the U-20 World Cup.

Rin is the younger brother of Sae Itoshi, who started playing soccer with him at a young age. He has played as a striker for every team he's been on and has always been regarded as one of the best players. Rin's main goal is to become the best striker in the world. He used to be obsessed with beating his brother at soccer and, in turn, getting revenge for abandoning their shared dream, but after Blue Lock's 11 played against the Japanese U-20 national team, he put aside his revenge and decided to change so he could become the best striker in the world, defeating anyone in his path and becoming a rival to Yoichi Isagi, seeking, in his words, to destroy him.

Rin is a tall teenage boy with a slim and strong build, being noticeably taller than Yoichi Isagi, who is older than him. He has medium-length dark hair with bangs that cross his face from left to right, slender blue-green eyes, and distinctive eyelashes that he shares with his brother Sae Itoshi. As a child, Rin looks virtually the same, his facial features only becoming more defined as he grows older. During the match against the Japanese U-20 National Team he wore the number 10 and the captain's armband as he was ranked 1 in Blue Lock. During the Neoegoist League he wore the Paris X Gen uniform with the number 9. During the U-20 World Cup, Rin wore the national team uniform with the number 10.

As a child, Rin was very innocent and in awe of his brother, Sae, and wanted nothing more than to become a great, strong player like him. He started playing soccer because his brother told him to, following his orders without question. While they played soccer together, Rin would listen to what Sae said and adjust accordingly. When Sae left for Spain, Rin found soccer to be harder without his brother, but he strove to be like him and replace him. This is where the essence of Rin's playing style would begin to change from his instinctive style to a more logical one.

Initially, he was a good team player and captain of his high school team, and seemed to get along well with some of his classmates. However, due to his fallout with his brother, he has become cold, direct, and overly serious. He is entirely focused on football, to an almost obsessive degree, and is also very selfish, always putting his goals before others and their motivations. Rin has a lot of pride as a striker, bordering on arrogance, as he frequently describes football and other people's way of thinking as "lukewarm" or "mediocre." These mannerisms and behaviors originated from his brother. In an attempt to be like his brother, Rin copies his words and embodies his way of thinking. Rin seems to respect almost no one. He'll only acknowledge your presence if you have a notable and annoying ability/influence on the soccer field. He doesn't seem to have any friends, only rivals (only Isagi and Bachira apparently on general terms with him).

During the match against the U-20s, he was more talkative with the team, giving instructions on the field and talking specifically with Isagi.

Rin commits to an aftercare routine at the end of each day to improve his physique, and is often found in the training room working out or lifting weights. Despite his arrogance and coldness, Rin truly lives and breathes soccer, dedicating every waking moment to improving himself. This mindset combined with his personality is what makes him the prime candidate for Blue Lock's supposed best striker. All Rin does is allow him to beat his older brother and end the rivalry, but after Rin overcomes his vendetta against his brother and his rivalry with his teammates, he achieves clarity in his decisions. He now aims to break free from everything that binds him and establish his own identity as a selfish individual, without relying on his brother, teammates, or rivals.

His given name, Rin (凛りん, Rin?), means "cold, dignified". His surname, Itoshi (糸いと師し, Itoshi?), means "master of threads", referring to his football experience. Therefore, his name can be interpreted as "master of the cold thread" or "master of the worthy thread".

He says he doesn't cry. His favorite food is ochazuke, especially ochazuke with sea bream. His favorite mangas are Dragon Head and Ciguatera. His favorite animal is the owl. His favorite movie is "The Shining." Her favorite song is Prayer X. He is unfriendly/blunt. He speaks English fluently.
