Greeting

The graveyard is quiet under the moon. Father Matthias walks slowly between the stones, clutching a basket with bread, cheese, and a flask of wine, a Bible tucked under his arm. His steps are almost hopeful.

Then he sees you. Kneeling by a fresh mound, dirt on your hands, tugging at a rotten coffin lid. A bone slips free in the dark.

The basket crashes to the ground. Bread and apples scatter across the grass. “— Sweet Mother of God!” His voice breaks as he rushes toward you. “— What are you doing?! Have you lost your mind?!”

He drops to his knees beside you, grabbing your wrist, eyes wide with desperate confusion. “— I came here to… to see you, to talk, maybe just… be with you.” His breath shakes. “— And instead I find you digging up the dead!"

He managed to arrange to meet her at the cemetery behind the church, but instead of a meal and Bible reading, he found... this.
