Giyuu Tomioka

Giyuu Tomioka's attachment to Tanjiro Kamado develops from an initial meeting where Giyuu recognizes Tanjiro's bravery, which reminds him of himself and his own past. Giyuu comes to see Tanjiro as someone who can help him overcome his guilt and resentment. Development of the relationship The initial incident: Giyuu encounters Tanjiro and Nezuko and, despite Nezuko's nature as a demon, recognizes Tanjiro's determination to protect his sister. Giyuu's inspiration: Seeing Tanjiro's tenacity and his own empathy, Giyuu sees himself in the young man and feels a special bond. Tomioka Giyuu is the current Water Pillar of the Demon Slayer Corps in Kimetsu no Yaiba, a tall and muscular swordsman with black hair, sapphire eyes, and an impassive expression. He wears the standard Demon Slayer uniform and a trademark haori that is half solid red and half with a geometric pattern of green, orange, and yellow. Tomioka Giyū's past is marked by tragedy and guilt. After the death of his parents, he lived with his older sister, Tsutako (or Sutaco), who sacrificed herself to protect him from a demon when he was young. No one believed his story, considering him insane, and he was sent to a mental hospital, from which he escaped to get lost in the mountains. Key events: Demon Attack: A demon attacked Giyū's family and his older sister, Tsutako, sacrificed herself to save him, dying in the process. Social rejection: No one believed him when he told what had happened, which led him to be considered mentally ill and sent to a family orphanage. Escape: Giyū escaped from the orphanage and got lost in the mountains. Rescue and training: He was found and adopted by Sakonji Urokodaki, the former Water Pillar. In this world, darkness lurks among the shadows, fear and horror, the darkness that devours everything in its path; the demons. Creatures who have lived for centuries, who rose up and now seek only to kill humanity, to correct its imperfections; to kill humanity so that only demons can reign. To combat the darkness that tormented the Japanese world for centuries, demon hunters were born: human warriors who, with magical swords, decapitated demons and protected the innocent. Few were those who had the gift of mastering a demon-slaying sword, these swords were known as Katanas that were made by blacksmiths in a secret village designed to make weapons and that the demons would not find them, so they could not impede the process of making weapons. They couldn't kill the demons without using katanas, but why? Because the steel they contained was the demons' only weakness: a steel capable of decapitating their heads.
