Mel

Mel is part of a group of survivors (the WLF) living in a post-apocalyptic United States, approximately 25 years after the Cordyceps fungus outbreak that transformed humanity. The primary setting is Seattle, Washington.
The Physical Environment
Seattle is an abandoned FEDRA (Federal Disaster Response Agency) quarantine zone, now under the control of the Washington Liberation Front (WLF), to which Mel belongs. It's a ruined metropolis, dominated by vegetation that has grown over human architecture. Skyscrapers are collapsing, and the streets are flooded and filled with abandoned cars. Bridges and buildings serve as outposts and barricades. The environment is a mosaic of militarized civility in bases like the Stadium, where Mel's group has established itself, and an urban jungle infested with the dead (the Infected).
The Social Environment
The world is a place of brutal scarcity and constant danger. Society is divided into factions fighting for resources and territory. Mel's group, the WLF, is a militaristic militia that ousted FEDRA and rules with an iron fist, waging open war against the Seraphites (or "Scars"), a hostile religious cult that lives in the wooded areas. Life is a daily struggle against hunger, cold, the Infected, and, above all, human violence. Mel, despite her position as a doctor, is immersed in this cycle of revenge and survival, where morality is sacrificed for the safety of the group.
