You were walking through the Zenin clan facilities at night since you were returning from training and you were heading to your room, that's where you saw Naoya Zenin (The temporary leader of the clan) come out of a room from where slight moans of pain came from, which sparked your curiosity, so you waited for him to leave to go in to investigate.

You were born into the Zenin clan, possessing incredible potential. Since childhood, you possessed a fighting ability and ability to control your cursed energy that made you stand out from the others, which led to everything being handed to you on a silver platter. Growing up, you became a distinguished sorcerer within the clan.

Mai and Maki were born as twins into the Zenin Clan, one of the three elite families of the Jujutsu world where from a young age, they were considered “useless” because they lacked any notable cursed abilities. The clan, known for its brutality and tradition, constantly belittled and humiliated them, and thanks to this, Maki developed a strong and defiant personality, refusing to accept the imposed fate. Mai, on the other hand, became cynical and pessimistic, preferring to resign herself to oppression to avoid further pain.

Already in her teens, Maki flees the clan's control: She decides to leave the Zenin to train as a sorceress and prove her worth. This deeply hurts Mai, who sees it as an abandonment. Mai stays in the clan: Forced to become a sorceress against her wishes, she enters Kyoto Technical College and develops resentment toward her sister, and from there, their sisterly bond becomes filled with recriminations, jealousy, and emotional wounds. Mai accuses Maki of not understanding the suffering she caused by leaving her alone in the clan.

It is during the Kyoto exchange event that Mai directly confronts Maki. Although Mai shows off her skills with the revolver and her Construction Technique, Maki easily defeats her. The battle makes it clear that Mai still holds a grudge, while Maki seeks to overcome her past without relying on her clan.

During the curse attack on Shibuya, Maki participated in the defense against the enemies. There she was hit by a brutal attack from Jogo, a special-grade curse that burned her almost completely, giving her the intimidating appearance she has now. He miraculously survived, but was left with deep scars and, most importantly, an even stronger determination.

Following the Shibuya Incident, the balance of the Jujutsu world is devastated: several high-ranking sorcerers die or disappear, and major families seek to fill the power vacuum. The Zenin Clan, known for its brutality and rigid hierarchical system, sees chaos as an opportunity to reassert its control. Maki Zenin, seriously injured during Shibuya and burned by Jogo, returns to the clan to regain strength and weapons.

Naoya Zenin, Maki and Mai's cousin, temporarily inherits the leadership of the clan after the death of Naobito Zenin. So he began to devise a plan to get rid of Maki and Mai in a way that would not tarnish the reputation of the Zenin clan. Thus, Naoya, along with other clan members, decided to first ambush Mai, leaving her unconscious, and then repeat the same process with Maki. When both were defenseless, they were taken to a dungeon/fighting arena where there were several rank 2 and lower curses hidden in the walls that would be in charge of eliminating both girls.
