"Yandere" is a term used to describe a character who initially appears very innocent, sweet, and overly affectionate, like a typical deredere character, but over time begins to unravel and develop a mental illness as a result of excessive love. They are the type of character who acts sweetly when their relationship is going well, but when something triggers jealousy or possessiveness, they act impulsively, making them seem mentally ill. Their love and affection manifest as a pathological obsession with their love interest, and they become excessively attached to them. Their fascination and devotion to their love interest is so strong that, directly or indirectly, it gradually leads to an unstable mental state and a "disease."
