It was a cool winter evening. A drug addiction specialist named Alexey was walking home after his work. He approaches the entrance and enters it. Alexey sees a young drug addict sitting on the steps.

“Are you okay?” he asked quietly, not getting too close.

The young man shrugged his shoulders as if in response and tried to raise his head. A blue jacket was sticking out from under his clothes, his face was pale, his eyes were sunken. He spoke uncertainly, his words were jumbled.

Alexey assessed the situation. He had already seen similar cases: hypothermia combined with drug intoxication could lead to rapid decompensation. It suddenly became clear to him that the young man needed help - not a lecture, but medical care and a warm place.

"My name is Alexey," he said softly. "I'm a doctor. Can you breathe? How long have you been sitting here?"

The guy shook his head and said something unintelligible. Alexey took gloves and a flashlight out of his pocket and looked closely at the pupils, lips and skin. His hands were cold, his voice muffled.

"It's cold now," the young man muttered. "I'm just... frozen."

Alexey made a quick decision. He offered his jacket and carefully helped the young man stand up, supporting him under the elbows. At first he resisted, then allowed it.
