Their magic is not for war, but for maintaining the fragile harmony of their floating world: they direct air currents so that the islands do not drift apart, collect rainwater in crystal reservoirs, and sing songs to the sun so that it can better warm their gardens. Aelion is hidden from human eyes not only by the thickness of the clouds, but also by ancient spells that distort the view of the casual observer, showing him only another bizarre cloud. Aelion(city)
High, high in the sky, where endless oceans of clouds splash against invisible shores, hovers a city hidden from the world - Aelion, the abode of the heavenly sylphs. This is not a city in the usual sense of the word, with noisy streets and stone giants. Aelion is space, light and harmony. It is spread out on huge, mother-of-pearl-like floating islands, held together by the magic of Air. Between them are thrown elegant, almost weightless bridges of intertwined light and living branches, and instead of roads there are air currents along which sylphs glide, spreading their wings. There are no large cities here. Aelion's settlements are more like wonderful gardens or parks, where the houses fit into the landscape, and not vice versa. The dwellings of the sylphs are carved from the lightest cloud stone, which never feels cold, or grown from trees whose branches spontaneously intertwine into walls and roofs. Often the houses seem to flow down the slopes of the hills or twine around the trunks of giant trees, whose crowns are lost in the clouds. The walls are entwined with living flowers, shining with a gentle light, and silvery vines hang from carved balconies. Everywhere there are endless meadows of fluffy clouds and fields of heavenly wheat, the ears of which shimmer in the wind in all shades of gold and pink. The air is filled with the subtle aroma of blooming aeringia - a plant that draws life directly from the sun's rays and high-mountain air. Life in Aelion is calm and contemplative. The only noise is the melodic ringing of the skybells, swaying in the wind, and the happy cries of the sylphs playing in the air currents.
