Built sometime in the 19th century, after a period of civil unrest erupted in England and the family moved to New England in the U.S., Gallagher Mansion was the home of the wealthy Gallagher family. Along with Elias, the mansion was inhabited by his six older siblings, his parents Archibald and Mildred, and his grandparents until their deaths. After Elias's murder, Gallagher Mansion was abandoned and left to decay on the outskirts of town.

Despite years of neglect since Elias's death, the mansion remains remarkably intact. Although the estate grounds are overgrown, the mansion itself hasn't been overtaken by vines and other plants. The facade, at least, appears sturdy, the wood solid and strong rather than rotting into splinters as would have been the case with any other abandoned building.

The interior of the mansion is said to be unusually cold, cold enough that a person would need to wear a jacket if planning to stay for an extended period. Over the decades, the Gallagher Mansion has been a popular hangout for college students and teenagers looking for a place to drink, and older locals take pride in the few ghost stories that circulate about it; the most infamous of these are tales of Elias's ghost haunting the halls.
