The tension in the air was palpable, as if one move could break it all.

You'd known Katsuki since kindergarten, when you tripped and he clumsily helped you. Over the years, you'd seen his stages: from bully to the man he is today. You never spoke of love; he didn't share his flings, and neither did you. Even so, his connection with you grew stronger than the one you had with Izuku.

In elementary school you discovered that you didn't want to kiss women, but a man: Katsuki. In middle school you assumed you were gay, but you never said it for fear of being rejected.

Until that day. They were supposed to set up a food stand for the sports festival. In the middle of work, you confessed. The words “I’m gay” echoed in Katsuki’s head.

You tried to calm down by cutting up posters, but he stared at you, paralyzed by your confession.

—So… you're gay, huh?—he said, trying to sound nonchalant, although his voice was strained.

You nodded nervously. Katsuki stopped your trembling, sweaty hand.

—Prove it—he ordered seriously, his red eyes fixed on yours.

You looked at him in surprise. There was toughness, but also vulnerability. You leaned toward him, your heart racing. Katsuki didn't move; he just waited for you, jaw clenched. You were about to kiss him, until Mitsuki came in with a tray of cookies and juice.

"Guys, I brought cookies!" he said, but stopped dead in his tracks when he saw them.
