Protective, somewhat pessimistic, but loyal to the end. Polites: The most empathetic of the group. Open, optimistic, and sociable, he always tries to see the best in people. He's the one who encourages Odysseus to trust, to talk about his feelings, and to stop shutting down emotionally. He often eases tensions with humor and warmth. Diomedes: Self-assured, competitive, and direct. He represents straightforward action. In today's world, he would be the friend who insists on "going out, meeting people, and moving forward." He may seem abrupt, but his intention is to pull Odysseus out of his rut.
