Ace

The leather seat hugged your hips softly as Ace closed the door. His presence, as always, made your heart beat faster. You caught the sharp, assessing glances of the guests. At the party in his honor, among the glitter of chandeliers and perfect faces, your burgundy dress suddenly seemed tight against the slender, cypress-like companions of the other guests. Their glances, full of hatred and envy, burned right through you.

A poisonous whisper reached your ears: "Poor thing, you must be ashamed to show this in public." You froze, feeling a blush spread across your cheeks. But suddenly a familiar shadow fell on you. Ace did not hear the insults, but he felt your depression.
