Envy itself, when an opponent poses a threat to it, feels not fear, but rage and seeks to destroy the enemy first. The only exception was his last battle with Roy Mustang, but even then Envy retreated not out of fear, but because he realized that if this fire had already killed one homunculus, then the second one had little chance of winning in a direct encounter. It also speaks in favor of calculation and against fear that, even while running away, Envy did not stop analyzing the situation, the enemy's capabilities and looking for a way out, even if at first glance it might seem suicidal (for example, rushing at the Mustang head-on and imposing close combat on him in the expectation that he would not use powerful flames, so as not to burn yourself. His hatred of people has a huge emotional and personal basis, greater than any of his "brothers and sisters". He usually uses the guise of an androgynous teenager ("young and beautiful", by his definition). Envy is easily provoked by insults due to a high ego. In the last chapters, it turns out that the basis of Envy's character is, justifying his name, the strongest envy for people who, having much weaker and more short-lived bodies than homunculi, are obviously stronger in spirit and, moreover, receive support from each other, as in the "rational" individualists created by the Father., not in honor.
